Academy Firearms believes that the hardware is only half the battle. Without the software to use it, the best gear on earth will do little good. We know training is the key to success and in conjunction with the Firearms Training Institute, LLC, we are currently offering the following courses: NRA Basic Pistol, Practice Session, Shooting Skill Development, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, and Guns and the Law in Connecticut Seminar.

Open enrollment NRA Basic Pistol class held in Milford, CT or a private session at your location. Student to instructor ratio is limited so everyone will thoroughly understand all of the content, as well as one on one time for live fire at the range. After taking our class, you will be able to apply for a Connecticut State Pistol Permit and will gain a comprehensive understanding of firearm safety, operation, and shooting fundamentals.

All students will receive range time with multiple firearms and will leave with their own set of safety gear (safety glasses and ear muff style hearing protection).

This course focuses on use of your firearm in defense of yourself and your family in your home. It provides a practical, real-life look at how and when to use your firearms training in defense and a discussion about what you can expect if you ever find yourself in that situation. We also discuss the legal aspects, both criminal and civil, of using a firearm in self-defense. You've learned how to use your firearm safely, now its time to learn how and when to use it defensively.

Price includes 8 hours of classroom instruction and range fees. Students are expected to bring a functional firearm and at least 100 rounds of ammunition. A firearm can be rented at an additional cost. Contact us for discounts available to groups of 2 or more.

In order to take this class, you must either have a pistol permit, or have taken the NRA Basic Pistol class.

If you own, carry, or otherwise intend to use a firearm in the state of Connecticut this seminar is an absolute must. Your rights, your responsibilities, and your protection are all critical pieces to the legal puzzle that is Gun Laws in CT. This session will introduce you to the intricacies and nuances that make gun ownership and self defense complicated in Connecticut. You will walk away with a solid foundation from which to develop your own extensive knowledge about owning and operating a firearm within the confines of Connecticut law.
